Lighting Designer Chip Israel Visits FSU Department of Interior Architecture and Design

Chip Israel, CEO and founder of the architectural lighting design firm Lighting Design Alliance visited the Florida State University Department of Interior Architecture + Design on Wednesday and Thursday, February 10th and 11th. Israel delivered lectures on his firm’s philosophy and its projects. The lecture on Wednesday was specifically designed for students in the sustainable design class and addressed energy saving solutions that better utilize the earth’s resources and save money for clients. The lecture on Thursday morning was delivered to the lighting class and focused on how to enhance designs, both inside and outdoors, with lighting.

For over twenty years, Lighting Design Alliance has provided lighting solutions from its offices in California, Shanghai and Dubai. Their projects span commercial, hospitality, entertainment, institutional and retail sectors and past clients include Walt Disney, Chase Bank, Sega Game Works, Marriott and Mercedes Benz. Israel has been a lighting designer for over 30 years and is a Fellow of the International Association of Lighting Designers and a LEED accredited professional. His daughter, Karyn, is an FSU student studying in the Department of Interior Architecture and Design.
