Atlanta News Station Features Dr. Jill Pable and Her Work for the Homeless

Published February 19, 2020

Stepping beyond her role as Chair and Professor of our department, Dr. Jill Pable has dedicated her spare time in the past 18 months as a consultant for a new homeless shelter in Atlanta. In her interview with Atlanta News Station, 11 Alive, she speaks to the efforts of creating an experience that goes beyond the elements and principles of design. This 100-bed shelter is the first low-barrier shelter in the metropolitan Atlanta area. 11 Alive defines this type of shelter as one which welcomes “women suffering from drug abuse and domestic violence issues, and mothers with boys over the age of 13.”

Dr. Pable has consulted on many projects benefitting people experiencing homelessness over the past 10 years. Her work continues to breathe life into the global community as she shares her knowledge through Design Resources for Homelessness, and with the local community here at Florida State University and in Tallahassee, Florida. We invite you to watch the quick interview between 11 Alive and Dr. Pable to learn more about the Atlanta Mission project.
