Undergraduate Lighting Class – Shoebox Presentations

Published February 8, 2016

The Department of Interior Architecture + Design’s required Lighting class challenges students to understand and apply lighting principles that move beyond mere task lighting to expressions that support corporate identity, support targeted user emotional states, and stir the soul. This three-week project culminated in the construction of a scale model interior constructed within a small box. The students select and place lighting sources within, manipulating their types and locations to produce sophisticated architectural lighting effects that interact well with chosen surfaces and finishes.
