On July 1, 2013, the Florida State University College of Fine Arts welcomed Peter Weishar as its new Dean. FSU also welcomed Patricia J. Flowers, incoming Dean of the College of Music. Tallahassee Democrat included the news of both deans in “New deans take over at two of FSU’s highly regarded arts colleges“, written by Doug Blackburn, Tallahassee Democrat Senior Writer.

In an excerpt, Tallahassee Democrat stated: “Weishar has a strong background in digital arts (He is the author of “CGI: The Art of the Computer Generated Image” and two other books on digital media.) and developed strong ties to industry while at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. Like Flowers, look for him to further develop entrepreneurial efforts in the College of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance.”

Later, Tallahassee Democrat included a quote by Weishar:
“I find great value in the collaboration between the academic and commercial worlds. We, as artists, are about making and producing and creating artwork, and that directly applies to a great deal of the work being done in industry,” Weishar said.
On the topic of the overall presence of FSU’s flagship arts programs in a city full of FSU football fans, Tallahassee Democrat quotes Weishar:
“I knew FSU for the arts programs,” he said. “I’m going to learn to like college football.”
Again, the College of Fine Arts welcomes Dean Peter Weishar, as well as to Dean Flowers of the FSU College of Music.
