Orlando Lighting Trip
Twenty of our sophomore and junior students had the opportunity to attend a field trip to Orlando, Florida March 31st – April 2nd. On the first day, the group visited EXP Lighting for a tour of their facilities and a lighting design discussion with Kate Sanoke, department alumnus Lindsay Dixon, and Chris Kearney. They showed examples of their existing projects across the world and discussed the lighting design documentation process in detail. Kate and Lindsay then accompanied the group to Universal City Walk for dinner and a walking tour of their lighting projects including the Red Oven Restaurant and CowFish.
On Friday, the group received a walking tour of EPCOT World Showcase with MK Haley, Florida State University’s College of Fine Arts Entrepreneur in Residence and Disney Imagineer. Tours of the Canadian, French, English, and Americas displays came to vivid life with the informed commentary that MK Haley provided.
