Rebecca Thompson and Katie Timmerman
The Department of Interior Architecture and Design congratulates third year student Rebecca Thompson and MFA student Katie Timmerman on their University Leadership Awards. Rebecca and Katie were selected as the top leaders in the College of Fine Arts and were recognized at the annual FSU Undergraduate Leadership Night in April.
Rebecca serves on the department’s Student Leadership Council (IDSAC) and is president of the Interior Design Student Organization, which organized events to enrich the experience of the students. This past October, our department hosted a regional Interior Design Educators Council Conference. Rebecca was an important part of keeping the conference running smoothly and helped drive vans, introduced speakers, and helped whenever needed. During our accreditation visit, Rebecca served as one of the students selected to meet with the CIDA accreditation team.
Katie is a second year MFA student who will graduate in August. In addition to her studies as a master’s student, Katie serves the department in many capacities. In the fall of 2014, she was a teaching assistant helping with two sections of Studio 2 classes. During the spring of 2015, she assisted with our advanced computer-aided design class. She is an excellent resource for our students because of her strong technology and visual communication skills. Students rely heavily on her expertise and she is generous with her time both inside and outside class. Last year she was awarded our “Outstanding Teaching Assistant” award for her contributions to the success of our students. She also volunteers as the chair of the student-led Visual Communications Committee overseeing the displays in the building and the student work hung in our gallery. The Department of Interior Architecture and Design recently went through an accreditation visit. Katie was instrumental in helping to prepare the display of work and the displays throughout the building.
Once again, the department thanks and congratulates these outstanding students!
