Department of Interior Architecture & Design Professor Jill Pable Selected for IWBI Leadership Award

Department of Interior Architecture & Design faculty Jill Pable has been selected from the community of WELL APs and WELL Faculty as a recipient of a 2019 IWBI leadership award, to take place at at their awards reception on Monday, Nov. 19 at Greenbuild in Atlanta. The award will honor her commitment to the mission behind WELL, recognize her unique contributions to their shared work, and allow them to show their gratitude for all she does.

The International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™) is leading the global movement to transform our buildings and communities in ways that help people thrive. IWBI delivers the cutting-edge WELL Building Standard™, the leading global rating system and the first to be focused exclusively on the ways that buildings, and everything in them, can improve our comfort, drive better choices, and generally enhance, not compromise, our health and wellness. The WELL v2™ pilot is a recently launched version of its popular WELL Building Standard, and the WELL Community Standard™ pilot is a district scale rating system that sets a new global benchmark for healthy communities. IWBI mobilizes the global wellness community through management of the WELL AP™ credential, convenes a global network of organizations through IWBI membership, pursues applicable research, develops educational resources, and advocates for policies that promote health and wellness everywhere.

Jill Pable is a professor in the Interior Architecture & Design Department at Florida State University and a fellow and past national president of the Interior Design Educators Council. She holds B.S. and M.F.A. degrees in Interior Design and a Ph.D. degree in Instructional Technology with specialization in architecture. She is an NCIDQ-certified interior designer and a WELL accredited professional and WELL faculty member. Her research focuses on the design of environments for the disadvantaged and she is the originator of the Design Resources for Homelessness initiative, a research-informed non-profit online information source for architectural designers and organizations creating environments for people recovering from homelessness. She is the co-author of Sketching Interiors at the Speed of Thought and Interior Design: Strategies for Teaching and Learning and was included in the DesignIntelligence list of 30 Most Admired Design Educators in the United States in 2015. She believes that design can make life more interesting, fulfilling and humane.
