Yelena McLane, a specialized faculty member in the IA+D Department, recently had her exhibition review “Making Design, at Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum, New York City, Permanent Collection Installation” published in the Journal of Design and Culture. Making Design is the marquee show from a group of exhibitions celebrating the December 2014 reopening of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City at the newly restored Carnegie Mansion. The exhibit houses more than 300 examples of historic and contemporary design illustrates as a series of thematic vignettes centered upon five elements: line, form, texture, pattern, and color. Dr. McLane stated that Making Design provides a fun and informative introduction to “thinking design.” To read the entire review, and see more images from the exhibit, please CLICK HERE.
