IA+D undergraduate and graduate designers in Studio 4 recently participated in a field trip to Atlanta as a part of their preparation for their advanced residential project. Pineapple House, a firm specializing in residential projects, invited students to their office to offer insights into the profession and tour their sizable space and many projects currently underway. Students also had the opportunity to spend time in the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center, where Kravet representatives Julie Kimbel and Savannah Amerson shared an overview of their showroom and provided them samples for their current project. Many students are participating in the Kravet Design of Distinction Competition with their residential project, and Kravet will display selected projects in their Atlanta showroom. Lastly, Walker Zanger hosted students for breakfast, and provided insight into the world of quarried stone and ceramics. Students enjoyed the unique opportunity to see a wide variety of products in person and especially selections for their projects, made possible with Walker Zanger’s extensive library of sample products.
