Interior Design faculty and students attended NeoCON, North America’s largest design exposition and conference, in June. In addition to listening to keynote addresses by leading architects and designers, students and faculty also visited showrooms to see the latest products and learn about current research. Taking advantage of the huge design presence in Chicago, faculty arranged tours for students of HDR, a design firm focusing primarily on health care design, and Gensler, one of the largest architecture and design firms in the world. Students also participated in a design charrette sponsored by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) where they worked side-by-side with students from all over North America. Final designs were presented to a panel of practicing professionals for feedback. On the last day of the conferences, students attended a portfolio review session and boot camp sponsored by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and IIDA.
