Interior Architecture + Design Faculty were a force at the 2016 Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) annual conference in Portland, Oregon in March. Seven faculty members, two recent MFA alumni, and a current graduate student represented FSU. These FSU-affiliated attendees delivered nine presentations covering a wide variety of topics including, but not limited to Design for the Impoverished, Branding, Third places, Critical Thinking, Links with Industry, Design Communication, Digital Fabrication, Design for Elders, and Emotional Intelligence. Faculty members were also visible in leadership roles for IDEC as well as the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). Jill Pable completed her term on the IDEC board of Directors as Director of Teaching, Amy Huber completed her service as IDEC’s representative to IDCEC and the chair of Pecha Kucha, and Lisa Waxman represented CIDA at the conference and helped lead the post conference accreditation workshop. The conference is always a great opportunity for networking and staying current with trends in education. Congrats to all Nole faculty and students involved!
