Dr. Lisa Waxman Elected as CIDA Board Chair

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) Board of Directors elected Lisa Waxman, Ph.D., FIDEC, ASID, as the 2017 Board Chair. Dr. Waxman is a professor and chair of the Department of Interior Architecture + Design at Florida State University and serves as the liaison to the Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) on the CIDA Board. CIDA Director Katherine Setser, ASID, IIDA, IDEC, NCIDQ, Director of the Interior Design Program at Miami University, was elected Secretary-Treasurer. Industry Representative Jan Johnson, FIIDA, Vice President of Design and Workplace Resources at Allsteel and Sari Graven, FASID, liaison to the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and Director at Future@Work, were re-appointed to second terms on the CIDA Board. Additionally, Collin Burry, FIIDA, is Chair-elect of the CIDA Board and serves as the liaison to the International Interior Design Association (IIDA).

One new Director appointment was made to the nine-member CIDA Board. Katherine S. Ankerson, AIA, IDEC, IIDA, NCARB was appointed as the accredited program representative. Katherine is Dean of the College of Architecture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. With deep expertise in both architecture and interior design, Dean Ankerson is a well-known and highly respected member and advocate in the interior design education community. Dean Ankerson has volunteered for CIDA since 2010, starting as a site visitor. Additionally, she has served in many capacities with IDEC, including Director at Large, Teaching Academy Administrator, Record editor, Foundation Board, and 2014-15 President.

The Council for Interior Design Accreditation is an independent, non-profit, accrediting organization responsible for setting standards and evaluating degree-granting interior design programs.
