Faculty

The department has a distinguished faculty of eight full-time members. These faculty are supplemented by adjunct faculty who are practicing professional interior designers, architects, and specialists in other areas and businesses related to interior design. All faculty members hold either a PhD or Master’s degree from major universities and have been chosen for their particular expertise in such areas as interior design, architecture, art and the technical and graphics aspects of design. Most of the faculty hold professional memberships in a variety of organizations including ASID, IIDA, IDEC, AIA and EDRA. Many are licensed interior designers in Florida and remain active in the profession.

David Butler Honored with Professor Emeritus Status

In April, David Butler was honored with the status of Professor Emeritus for his thirty years of service to the interior design department.  Professor Emeritus is award to faculty who have contributed significantly to the department for an extended period of time. David will retire on June 30 of 2013 and received the honor from Interim Dean Lynn Hogan during his retirement reception in April.  David served as Department Chair for 19 years and completed his career as a faculty member and career counselor to students in the major.  We will miss his organizational expertise and wonderful sense of humor!

Peter Munton Honored with Professor Emeritus Status

Peter Munton was honored with the status of Professor Emeritus for his thirty years of service to the interior design department.  Professor Emeritus is award to faculty who have contributed significantly to the department for an extended period of time. Peter retired in October of 2012 and received the honor from Interim Dean Lynn Hogan during the advisory board meeting in November.  This was a special event as many of our advisory board members were Peter's students and enjoyed being part of the celebration.  We will miss Peter and his creative energy!

Deb Alexander is the Interior Design Department Office Adminstrator. She has two degrees from FAMU, and came to us from the staff of the Department of Biology at FSU. .
